How it works

It works by increasing the outflow of liquid, which lowers the pressure in the eye. It may be used on its own or with other drops e.g. beta-blockers, which also reduce pressure.

Side Effects

Effects in the eye: burning or stinging upon instillation, itchy eye, change of colour of the iris, dry eye, foreign body sensation, eye or eyelid inflammation, pain in the eye, blurred vision, decreased visual acuity, sensitivity to light. Effects in the body: headache, slow heart rate, decrease of blood pressure, change of colour around the eyelids.

Drug Interactions

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken or used any other medicines.

Indication

It is used to treat high pressure in the eye. This pressure can lead to an illness called glaucoma.

When not to Use

Do not use if you are allergic to prostaglandins or any of the other ingredients ; If you are pregnant, or might get pregnant.


Precaution

If you wear soft contact lenses. Don’t use the drops with your lenses in. Wait 15 minutes after using the drops before putting your lenses back in. A preservative benzalkonium chloride can discolour soft lenses.


Warning 1

It may increase the length, thickness, colour and/or number of your eyelashes.

Warning 2

It may change the colour of your iris (the coloured part of your eye).

Warning 3

You may find that your vision is blurred for a time just after you use . Do not drive or use machines until this has worn off.
