Used For:

Hyderquin 4% Cream is primarily used for the treatment of hyperpigmentation conditions. It contains hydroquinone, which is a skin-lightening agent. The conditions it is commonly used for include:

  • Melasma: A condition that causes brown or gray-brown patches on the skin, usually on the face.
  • Chloasma: Similar to melasma, often associated with pregnancy or hormone therapy.
  • Age spots or liver spots: Small, dark areas on the skin, usually on the face, hands, shoulders, and arms.
  • Freckles: Small brownish spots on the skin, often becoming more pronounced through exposure to the sun.
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation: Darkened patches of skin that appear after an inflammatory skin condition, such as acne or eczema.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of Hyderquin 4% Cream can include:

  • Mild skin irritation
  • Redness
  • Dryness
  • Itching
  • Stinging or burning sensation at the site of application

Less common, but more serious side effects can include:

  • Severe skin redness, burning, or stinging
  • Cracking, blistering, or oozing of the skin
  • Blue-black darkening of the skin (a condition known as ochronosis) with prolonged use
  • Allergic reactions such as rash, itching/swelling, severe dizziness, or trouble breathing

Precautions:

  • Skin Sensitivity: Conduct a patch test before using the cream to ensure you do not have an allergic reaction. Apply a small amount to a small area of skin and wait 24 hours.
  • Sun Exposure: Hydroquinone can make your skin more sensitive to the sun. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing when outdoors.
  • Use in Pregnancy: Consult a doctor before using this medication if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
  • Use in Breastfeeding: It is not known if hydroquinone passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
  • Avoid Sensitive Areas: Do not apply the cream to broken or irritated skin or to areas around the eyes and mouth.
  • Long-Term Use: Prolonged use can lead to ochronosis, a blue-black darkening of the skin. Use the cream only for the duration prescribed by your healthcare provider.
  • Other Medications and Products: Inform your doctor of any other medications or skincare products you are using, as they can interact with hydroquinone.
  • Discontinue Use if Severe Reaction Occurs: If you experience severe irritation or allergic reactions, stop using the cream and seek medical advice immediately.

Always follow the instructions provided by your healthcare provider or the product's label, and do not use it for longer than prescribed.
