How it works
It provides the body with more iron and folic acid. These are important substances that your body needs to form red blood cells. If you do not have the right amount of these substances it is possible that you may develop anaemia .

Side Effects
• Constipation, diarrhoea, stomach cramps, green stools, nausea or stomach upset. Iron may cause your stools to turn black, allergic reactions (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); • Black, tarry stools; • Blood or streaks of blood in the stool; • Fever; • Vomiting with continuing sharp stomach pain.
Drug Interactions
• Some antibiotics e.g. trimethoprim • Antacids • Large quantities of alcohol • Sulphasalazine • Methotrexate • Some medicines used to treat tuberculous • Pyrimethamine • Phenytoin • Triamterene • oral contraceptives
Indication
It is used for treatment of iron and folic acid deficiency anaemia .
When not to Use
Do not take if: • You have suffered a reaction, or have an allergy to: • Their active ingredients ferrous fumarate and folic acid or • Any ingredient listed • You have been told you suffer from Vitamin B12 deficiency or other blood disorder which results from a general increase in iron stores in the body. • You have or have had anaemia other than those due to iron and/or folic acid deficiency • You have had, or are having repeated blood transfusions .
PRECAUTIONS
Precaution
It contains iron. Keep out of reach and sight of children, as overdose may be fatal.
WARNINGS
Warning 1
Talk to your doctor before taking if you have had all or part of your stomach removed .
Warning 2
Talk to your doctor before taking if you have had or you have a folate dependent tumour.
Warning 3
Talk to your doctor before taking if you have been or you are being treated for a stomach ulcer .
