Pack Size: 14's

Manufactured By: Acto Pharmaceuticals

Used For:

  • Depression: Atcopram is primarily prescribed for the treatment of depression, a common mental health disorder characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and loss of interest or pleasure in daily activities. It works by increasing the levels of serotonin, a neurotransmitter in the brain that helps regulate mood.
  • Anxiety Disorders: Atcopram may also be used to treat various anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety disorder (social phobia), panic disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Side Effects:

While Atcopram is generally well-tolerated, it may cause some side effects in certain individuals. Common side effects may include:

  • Nausea
  • Drowsiness or fatigue
  • Headache
  • Dry mouth
  • Insomnia (difficulty sleeping) or changes in sleep patterns
  • Increased sweating
  • Sexual dysfunction (such as decreased libido or difficulty achieving orgasm)
  • Weight changes (weight gain or weight loss)
  • Constipation or diarrhea
  • Dizziness

Less common but potentially serious side effects may include:

  • Suicidal thoughts or behavior (especially in young adults)
  • Serotonin syndrome (a rare but potentially life-threatening condition characterized by confusion, agitation, hallucinations, fever, sweating, shivering, fast heart rate, muscle stiffness, twitching, loss of coordination, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea)
  • Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing)

If you experience any severe or persistent side effects while taking Atcopram, it's important to contact your healthcare provider.

Precautions:

  • Dosage: Follow the dosage instructions provided by your doctor or pharmacist. Do not exceed the recommended dose unless instructed to do so by your healthcare provider.
  • Abrupt Discontinuation: Do not stop taking Atcopram suddenly without consulting your doctor, as this may lead to withdrawal symptoms such as dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting, irritability, or electric shock sensations.
  • Medical Conditions: Inform your doctor about any medical conditions you have, especially if you have a history of seizures, bipolar disorder, liver or kidney problems, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Interactions: Atcopram may interact with other medications, including other antidepressants, certain pain medications, migraine medications, and herbal supplements. Inform your healthcare provider about all the medications and supplements you are taking before starting Atcopram.
  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: It's important to discuss the risks and benefits of taking Atcopram during pregnancy or breastfeeding with your doctor. While some SSRIs may be used during pregnancy under close medical supervision, they may pose risks to the developing fetus or nursing infant.

Always consult your healthcare provider or pharmacist for personalized advice regarding the use of Atcopram tablets. If you have any questions or concerns about this medication, don't hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider for clarification.
