Primary Uses

Indications

Domperidone can be used in patients who have epigastric sense of fullness, Upper abdominal distention (stomach fullness and bloating.)

Side Effects

Domperidone may rarely cause Gl upset (stomach upset), and raised serum prolactin (hormone).

Warnings

Pregnancy

Research suggests that domperidone should be avoided in pregnancy.

Lactation

Rsearch suggests that domperidone should be avoided by women who are breastfeeding.

Driving

Please avoid driving when taking this medicine as it may affect your ability to drive.

Precautions

Storage:

Please store the tablet form of this medicine at room temperature (18-25 Celsius). Keep medicine away from children, and excessive light and moisture. The liquid or suspension form of this medicine is to be refrigerated and stored at 2-8 C. Shake it well before use. Discard the suspension 4 weeks after use.

Effects in pregnancy and lactation:

his medicine is not recommended for use during pregnancy and lactation.

Side Effects:

You may experience gastrointestinal disturbances, heart abnormalities, sudden death due to heart dysfunction.

Precautions:

Patients with electrolyte disturbances, renal (kidney) and heart problems, and elderly must be cautious.

Administration:

This medicine is used orally, rectally, or intravenously. The oral form should be taken 15-30 minutes before meals. The injectable form is injected into a vein by a medical professional. However, if you are self-injecting or doing it at home, ensure that you follow the correct procedure and all relevant precautions. The dose is dependent on the age, condition and its severity. The lowest oral dose should be used for the elderly.

Contraindications:

Patients with abnormal prolactin levels, gastrointestinal hemorrhages, perforations and obstructions, hepatic (liver) impairment, and heart (cardiac) conditions.
